New name – new web address
Under our new Bangor Barden Ridge Cricket Club name (previously the Aquinas Comets) we will be moving to a new web address. This site is being reduced and will not be updated further beyond details below.
Our new web site is under construction, but we have a temporary page available which will be updated with new season details as they develop. To access our new web site - click here
Any players – new or returning – with any inquiries about our Club, the coming season or on any other issue should feel free to contact us at any time (see below ).
What’s on this page?
Much of our other pages will or have been removed, or will at least not be current.
Who we are
Season 2011 / 12 will see our members playing under a new Club banner – members having recently adopted the Bangor Barden Ridge Cricket Club name. Our name was changed to better reflect who we are as a Club. We will still be known as the Comets but will have new colours and playing strip to accompany our new name.
We are, and have long been, a local district cricket club open to all players across the entire community. We believe the “re-branding” will allow our Club to attain and sustain a culture enhancing the opportunities of all players, whatever their ability level and whatever their cricketing aims.
Season 2011-12
Registrations will open in July, grading in August and competition games will start in September. If only it were that simple…..

If you wish to inquire about playing cricket, about our Club, what’s involved in playing cricket with us or just wish to chat about any other question you may have – please fee free to contact us at any stage (contact details below).
In 2 Cricket
Our In2Cricket program is our Club nursery and a core part of our cricket operations. In2Cricket is played on Friday afternoons for approximately 10 weeks leading up to Christmas and is held at one of our aligned local grounds (in recent seasons we have been at Billa Rd Oval, Bangor).
In2Cricket is specifically designed for children mainly in the Kinder/Year 1/Year 2 (but 5-8 broadly) age bracket who would benefit from a basic initial introduction to cricket skills rather than to the more structured Saturday cricket (which is also modified anyway to suit new players). It is a great, fun evening for the kids and families (who seem to enjoy the ‘drinks & nibblies’ atmosphere just as much!!).
If you may have a child interested in cricket or who may want to ‘test the waters’ with our great game in a fun and time-friendly way, or would like to discuss the comparables between this program and our Saturday morning sides, please feel free to contact us at any stage (see below ).
Early registrations will open along with our other sides – please see above under “Season 2011 / 12” and the accompanying links for fuller details.

Your cricketing experience with us
For those new to our Club, or to cricket, please consider the Comets Cricket Club!! Our Club is a great place to start your cricket – meet some new friends or bring along some of your own!!
We run teams in the local Sutherland Shire Junior Cricket Association, from our littlies in the Under 8s through to our under 16s. All games are played at the same times each week, allowing you to plan your weekends. All U8s and most U10s play for only 2 hours each week – and under modified rules designed to involve all players and to assist with meeting varying skills levels.
If you have even a small interest in learning more about what’s involved, please feel free to contact us at any stage – playing cricket may just not be time commitment you think!
As to how we approach our cricket – our players, our teams and our officials - the Comets retain some core values. We:
- believe in opportunities for all to contribute to all facets of the game
- believe all are entitled to coaching & development opportunities
- believe in also providing opportunities competitively suited to each player - whatever the ability level & whatever their cricketing aims
- believe all players should be taught both technically and in the true spirit of the game
- believe there should be a focus on having fun while learning and playing
- believe in a family friendly environment
- are a young and vibrant Club, a local district club open to all.
For those new to our Club, or to cricket, please consider the Bangor Barden Ridge Cricket Club – the Comets!! Our Club is a great place to start or renew your cricket experience – meet some new friends or bring along some of your own!! We work hard to provide a nurturing and enjoyable Club atmosphere – one that both players & their families will enjoy.
